Back track to Wyndham

Came back from Wyndham direction via the back roads. Found this chimney ruin and plenty of tracks unpassable in "The Wet".

Rock Art

Today we went looking for some aboriginal rock art. Mum had read about some areas nearby so off we drove and drove, got sidetracked and headed off on a sandy track we thought might be right. Parked and then I was exploring a nearby rocky outcrop when I found an overhang/cave higher up featuring the figures on the left. A weird sort of feeling. the little cavey area was wide and yet cozy, it had a good view of the surrounding scrub. There was also a just visible picture of a big crocodile or maybe lizard and also a big one of a turtle like shape.

We planned to come back with boots and jeans instead of thongs and shorts and look some more.

El Questro

El Questro is a wilderness park about an hours drive from Kununurra. It is very nice. There is a camping ground and chalets in one part, tented cabins in another part and way over the back near the private airstrip is an exclusive 5 star lodge for those with a bit more money to spend. The other bits aren't cheap either but mostly worth it. We headed out for the day a while ago. Zebedee Springs (pictured) is a gorgeous natural hot springs. It's like The Enchanted Wood, crystal clear water and soft moss lined rock pools to sit in.
We are going back to camp very soon. Oh, we did our first off-road four wheel drive...it will never, ever happen again. Reaching the half way point at a crocodile infested sand bank while the sun set was not my idea of fun.

Middle Springs

Another gorgeous water hole. We were out here today, spent hours just lazing in the water, the children were a bit more energetic. The water was warm compared to Balckrock, lots of little fishies floating around too.

Blackrock Springs

24km out of town along a lovely (!?) unsealed road is Blackrock. A beautiful swimming hole, the water is really cold and clear with a trickling waterfall coming down over the black rock walls.
No steps down, just walk in under a natural canopy of trees. Good stuff!
